Millsberry Was The Best

Best Kids Game Nostalgic Vibes

If I could bring back any website from the past to today, it would be Millsberry.

Millsberry was a site meant to advertise General Mills' products. They make food items like Cheerios & Pillsbury. But, it was so much more than that.

Why Millsberry Was Great

Despite doing what many companies did with advergame (marketing towards feeble-minded children), Millsberry was amazing because it taught children how to live in a way.

I remember learning about shopping for groceries, learning what food was good for you, learning how to budget my millsbucks.

When I got bored of that I'd go to the arcade and play some games or I'd head home to take care of pets and my garden or fix up my house. The way you played the game genuinely felt like having a virtual life.

    The Marketing Worked?

I doubt it's because the game that I enjoyed General Mills' products as much as I did as a kid. I leave that up to the items just generally being bought by family.

But, I wouldn't lie if I didn't say the game makes me look back with nostalgia for products that either left my mind or ones I still eat today. There was something so much fun about buying products in a game that you know you could just go grab from your own kitchen. I think the old school graphics makes this even more true now as we look back at the past and long for it.
